Be flexible
- Location: Vancouver,
Learned to be flexible. I was 37 years old when I finally was able to get pregnant after many years of infertility. Shortly after our son was born we realized that he seemed to be distant and non-engaged. It was only a year and a half later when we started his speech therapy classes. At three he was officially diagnosed with Autism and we were devastated to hear the diagnosis. Fast forward nine years, and many autistic melt downs later, I have learned that I cannot control these outbursts, nor can I deviate my son from his repetitive behaviors and constant anxiety. I have learned that learning to be flexible has been the recipe for a more enjoyable day out with my family, no matter where we are headed. It may only be over to look at the Wendy's drive-thru window for a few minutes or it may be to head over to the elevators at the mall.
