Taking Care of Myself is harder as I reach my late 60's. I always thought I was pretty healthy until 10 years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. For the first year I was diligent and followed a healthier diet and checked my blood sugar level daily. As time went by, I became discouraged having to think about food all the time and worry about what to eat or not to eat. I started to let my good habits slide into old habits. I began to put the weight back on and thought I could do it all on my own. After 5 years I started to develop osteoarthritis in my hips and eventually reached a point where the right hip is bone to bone. I needed surgery but my A1c was so high, after COVID, working from home and having a couple of glasses of wine a night to reduce my stress. It has taken me almost a year to get my A1c back under control so I can have my much-needed surgery. I've had to work twice as hard to improve my overall health. What a lesson in humility, self-doubt, and reasoning that I'm worth the effort and health is the key to a rich and fulfilling future. I want to be able to go to Disney Land with my grandchildren and visit friends in Mexico with energy and mobility to enjoy them. Thank you, Providence, for the benefits, the support and the education which has helped lead me to a better future outcome. I feel blessed and I am grateful.
