New Patient Story

My family has a terrible history with heart disease. My paternal grandmother and my father both died of sudden cardiac arrest in their mid-40's so I've always been very aware of my own lifestyle. Even so, the idea of dying young still seemed like such a remote possibility; until my younger brother died of a sudden heart attack at the age of 36. I was devastated. Here it was, mortality staring me in the face. It made me take a hard look at my own life and even though I thought I was doing most of the right things, I realized I could do better. I started taking steps to decrease my own stress level. More water, more veggies, more movement throughout my day. I'm even doing yoga again. I can only hope these steps help me reach my goal of a long and happy life with my family.
